global company has been taking important steps
to comply with the sustainability pillars of the
Kering Group’s based on low-impact solutions
and innovative materials that will ultimately
inspire and empower future generations to
design and craft truly sustainable products.
The company’s VIRTUS (Verified, Integrated,
Reliable, Trustworthy, Unique and Secure) project
is an important albeit challenging move in line
with its commitment towards environmental
responsibility and sustainable innovation. This is
an inclusive data exchange platform to measure
the overall impact of its value chain. It has been
built upon blockchain technology as a key enabler
of assessment and traceability of all operations
involved in the manufacturing system.
The pilot launch in 2018 had the
participation of five partners. Today the project
has 16 partners, and expects to extend to the
entire Kering Eyewear supply chain starting
next year, including the direct participation
of Certottica, the Italian Institute of
Certification of Optical Products.
How it works is that the system adopts
blockchain technology on a regulated
