AFFORDABLE EYE CARE IN KOLKATA
idyasagar College of Optometry & Vision
Science recently opened a new community
Veye care centre, Vidyasagar Eye Care Centre
(VECC), in the heart of Kolkata. The inauguration
was carried out on the auspicious day of "Akshay
Tritiya" on April 23, 2023. This centre is an
expansion of the existing outpatient department
of the college and will operate six days a week,
providing quality eye care services at a very low
cost. The inauguration ceremony was attended by
many well-known eye care practitioners, including
ophthalmologists and optometrists, who
conveyed their best wishes for the organisation.
VECC has three different clinics based on these
categories: general, free, and paid clinics. Each
of these clinics is headed by a team of renowned
ophthalmologists and optometrists. The centre THE VECC
CLINIC
is well-equipped with the latest ophthalmic
instruments and diagnostics to provide DIRECTOR OF VECC
comprehensive eye examinations, glaucoma OPTOM DEBASISH KAR
investigations, cornea and contact lens services,
retina and posterior segment services, vision
therapy, low vision, and other community eye care
services. In addition, there is a separate, low-cost
dispensing unit.
VECC also serves as an education and training
centre for undergraduate and postgraduate
students to develop their clinical skills and
expertise. It will also provide employment
opportunities for many graduates who wish to
start their private eye care practices.
VECC aims to cater to a large mass of
people by providing easy accessibility and
affordability as part of the Community Eye Care
programme of Vidyasagar College of Optometry
& Vision Science, Kolkata.
