and computer vision it can help the visually
impaired become more independent.
In a project conducted recently about 800
visually impaired people benefitted by using
the SVG device. Those included were mainly
total blind. The training of visually impaired
by SVG was launched for Maharashtra State in
March-April 2024 in Mumbai. The beneficiaries
were from various districts like Pune, Dhule,
Solapur, Nagpur, Nasik, Kolhapur, Aurangabad,
Hingoli and Beed.
Eminent optometrist Yogita Rajgandhi and

training sessions for 225 attendees. They
explained and imparted knowledge on the
functions of each of the five features of the SVGs.
Prior to the launch of the project, Sandeep
Rami, co-coordinator from the Setu Trust,
identified visually impaired from Maharashtra
who could be beneficiaries. The beneficiaries’
demographic data, Aadhaar card number and
legally blindness certificate from the appropriate
issuing authority (district/ state/civil hospital)
were scrutinised.
The initiative was supported in different forms
