house is still very much in evidence – this is a
horse-shoe like clasp created in the 1970s based
on a piece of metalwork on the gates of the
company’s palazzo in Florence. (A gancio, in
Italian, is a small metal hook – and the design
was soon named the Gancini.)
Two classic styles feature in the optical
frames, both in acetate. The SF2973 is a
feminine rectangular shape with temples that
match the frame-front. A Gancini-shaped metal
plaque is visible on the hinges and a metal
extruded Gancini features on the end-pieces.
