Happily, the Gancini symbol of the fashion
house is still very much in evidence – this is a
horse-shoe like clasp created in the 1970s based
on a piece of metalwork on the gates of the
company’s palazzo in Florence. (A gancio, in
Italian, is a small metal hook – and the design
          was soon named the Gancini.)

Two classic styles feature in the optical
frames, both in acetate. The SF2973 is a
feminine rectangular shape with temples that
          match the frame-front. A Gancini-shaped metal
plaque is visible on the hinges and a metal
extruded Gancini features on the end-pieces.
          The frames have been
          crafted in black, blue or
          dark green and a new
shade of red. The other is
          a rectangular pair for men,
          model SF2978, similarly styled
          with a rather distinguished
look in a choice of black, dark
          green or blue navy.
             Nine sunglasses feature in the
          new collection. An oversized rectangular
pair (SF1101s) in acetate shows metal core wires
on the temples and bended end-pieces. The
overall effect seems inspired by a wrap-around
making it quite avant-garde. In addition to
