do, OPTOGLOBE, the
Mfirst global optometry
student summit, did indeed set
the stage for uniting them to
address the global challenges
facing optometric practice and
those faced by this specific
segment.

In a world where global
challenges demand
unprecedented solutions,
the summit set out to look
at the future of optometry.
And it all started with a vision.
Pemije Gadimoh, a student
from the Department of
Optometry, University of Benin,
Nigeria, recognised a gap
in the global engagement
of optometry students, the
limited opportunities for
internships and volunteer work.
Determined to do something
about it, Pemije came up
with the idea to connect
students worldwide and give a
common voice to address these
challenges.

On 7 April 2024, this
took shape as OPTOGLOBE,
